Shaw University, Raleigh, NC. The successful candidates for this ten-month position will regularly organize, schedule and document collaboration meetings with other program colleagues to discuss matters related to the students in the applicable program. Assess and review the needs of the program (faculty, supplies, instrumentation, etc.). Make program curriculum revision recommendations aimed to address current market trends and submit to the Chair of the Department. Coordinate activities with colleagues to enhance teaching and the learning process. Act as the primary faculty academic advisor for the students in the program. Disseminate information to students relating to internships and job opportunities, research, seminars, graduate schools, supporting programs, tutoring, etc. Compose an annual strategic plan and an annual operational plan for the applicable academic program. Submit an annual assessment report. Serve as an advisor for Freshman Orientation summer programs. Assure submission of book orders for all relevant program courses. As needed, on a per semester basis, teach traditional and non-traditional students, at an on or off-campus site on week days or nights and Saturdays. Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and present teaching materials in an understandable and effective manner, using related testing measurements that accurately reflect the stated course objectives. Hold classes as scheduled. For each course taught, allot a minimum of one hour per week to provide student assistance and advice in the applicable academic subject area. Participate in orientation sessions conducted each semester, as applicable. Advise students in appropriate course scheduling; assist advisees in defining and developing realistic goals in keeping with their abilities and interests. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records pertaining to attendance, assignments and grades. Maintain effective collegial communication, professional interaction, and functional relations within the assigned main-campus academic Department and the off-campus site.
