Egypt women protest

This image is from the Wild magazine site. It was taken in Egypt at a women’s protest during the Arab Spring of 2011. Note how cell phones have become integral to protest. The image is uncredited.

Nelson Mandela

This image of Nelson Mandela looking through the bars of his Robben Island cell in 1994 was voted as one of the 50 most memorable images of the 20th century by The Photographers Gallery in London. It was taken by Jürgen Schadeberg and is available for reproduction there.

Tiananmen, person and tanks

This iconic image of a person confronting a column of tanks was taken during the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.

ERA Yes!

This image is from the Chicago Area Women’s History Council site. It shows a march during the Equal Rights Amendment struggle, but is otherwise uncredited there.

March on Washington 1963

This image of Cesar Chavez is in the Jon Lewis Photo Exhibit at Dialog. “On March 17, 1966 after a stand off with the Delano police who tried to prevent the start of the march, a confident Cesar Chavez and his right hand assistant, (Rev.) Jim Drake, lead the Delano strikers and volunteers out of Delano onto the highway en route to Sacramento.”

March on Washington 1963

This is an iconic image from the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963. It is probably owned by UPI/Bettmann/Corbis though it is found all over the web at many sites.
